Alice Bradshaw Person-centred counselling
Alice Bradshaw

Hello, I'm a person-centred counsellor working with adults face to face, by video or by telephone.

Person-centred means the sessions are led by you. I won't diagnose you, set you homework or steer you. My belief is that people make sense of their own lives when they're given a genuinely non-judgemental space and a counsellor who is fully present with them, so that's what I offer. Building a trusting relationship matters to me, and working at your pace is always paramount.

My particular experience is in trauma. I've spent two years counselling within a rape and sexual violence support service and before training as a counsellor I worked in acute NHS mental health settings delivering therapeutic art. I'm also neurodivergent affirming and offer a space where you won't need to mask, explain yourself or translate how your mind works into someone else's terms.

Before counselling, my working life was in the arts as an artist, curator, teacher and mentor, and that background shapes how I listen: with curiosity, and without needing things to arrive in tidy sentences. Just as art can be messy, so can our lived experiences, emotions and therapy processes.

People come to me with all sorts of things such as stress and anxiety, grief and bereavement, depression, low self-esteem, past trauma, relationship difficulties, overwhelming emotions, life transitions or simply a wish to understand themselves better. Whatever brings you and whatever stage of life you're at, you're welcome.

We can agree a fixed number of sessions or stay open-ended and we can discuss what suits you at an initial appointment. I work flexibly and collaboratively with you and if you'd like to ask anything or arrange an initial session, please get in touch.
